Today we remember and celebrate the profound life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I was fortunate to meet Dr. King as a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. I often say that my first meeting with Dr. King was my “Saul to Paul” transition -- because I was never the same after that, John.
Dr. King dedicated his life to the fight for justice and equality. It was a fight I was also a part of -- I marched, protested, and organized for all Americans’ civil rights. I saw firsthand the courage and determination it took to stand up against hatred and injustice -- and I know that spirit lives on in all of us today.
But the progress we’ve made is under constant threat, especially over the past year. We’ve witnessed efforts to roll back voting rights, undermine our democracy, and sow division among us.
It is our duty to carry forward Dr. King’s dream and confront the challenges before us. Let us honor Dr. King’s legacy by rededicating ourselves to the cause of justice. Together, we can push forward, even in the face of adversity, and ensure a brighter, fairer future for all.
Thank you,
Jim
P.S. I'll be featured on The View today on ABC. Be sure to tune in at 11:00 AM EST!
