The fight for equity, 30 years since the ADA.

Hi John,

More than 1 in 4 Americans live with a disability.

Every family is likely to be touched by some type of disability, whether short- or long-term.

So today, as we mark 30 years since the passage of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), I want to call attention not only to the progress but also to the gaps we must still fight together.

Too many Americans with disabilities still struggle with accessibility to housing, transportation, employment and education.

We can and must strengthen the ADA.

  • Improve work opportunities, better incentivize employers

  • Protect benefits even with employment

  • Extend current ADA employment protections to those who work as contractors or gig workers

  • Provide health care as a right

  • Ensure accessible in-person and at-home voting

I also encourage and hope that all our candidates and elected leaders will work to provide information that is accessible.

Our website features an accessibility widget and my platform ensures this fight won't go unnoticed.

I will always advocate for and bring to the table our disability community here in Arizona's 6th district because without equity, we can't build the future we all stand in hope for.

Have a safe and strong Sunday.

My best,
Anita Malik
