See below for information about May Day 2026 and Labor for Democracy’s upcoming Working Class Solidarity vs. Billionaires Trainings.
In response to the killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent on January 7 and the ongoing ICE “surge” in Minnesota, unions and community organizations, including UE Local 1105, are calling for a statewide day of non-violent moral action on Friday, January 23rd — and are asking for solidarity from others across the country.
Organizers are calling for a unified, statewide pause in daily economic activity — no work, no school, and no shopping or consumer spending. And they are calling for a week of action targeting Minnesota corporations, demanding that they stand with the people of Minnesota. Take action using the links below, or use this toolkit to help organize solidarity actions.
On May 1st, 2026, UE will be joining the May Day Strong Coalition to stand up and demand “workers over billionaires” in the face of the violent billionaire takeover of our federal government. Attend the May Day Strong webinar on January 21st, 7-8pm ET to begin organizing for this important day of action.
Over the next few weeks, Labor for Democracy — a coalition of unions representing over seven and a half million workers, which UE is part of — will be holding online trainings and discussion about ways union power can protect working people and the poor, defend democracy and human rights, and defeat authoritarianism and the erosion of our rights.
RSVP for Working Class Solidarity vs. Billionaires Virtual Training:
This 90-minute virtual session will tackle root causes of what is playing out right now in so many communities. The training will focus on what can be done as union members to overcome the power of corrupt politicians and billionaires through working-class solidarity.
