Andrew's statement on Delivering Millions in Community Funding to Long Islanders

"I’m proud to see every Community Project Funding request my office submitted for the Interior and CJS bills included in final passage. These investments reflect the priorities of Long Islanders I represent.

In the Interior bill, this includes $800K for the fully funded Amityville beach ejector pump construction project, $1M for the Nassau County Cedar Creek water pollution control plant ocean outfall diffuser project, $1M for the Mastic Beach sewer district project, $1M for the West Babylon sewer expansion project, and $1M for the West Islip sewer expansion project.

The CJS bill includes $2.1M for the Suffolk County PD emergency service equipment project. These are real federal dollars coming back to Long Island and a direct result of fighting to make sure our district’s needs are heard."

Federal funding package includes $17 million for Long Island drinking water projects

"These are real federal dollars coming back to Long Island and a direct result of fighting to make sure our district’s needs are heard," Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-Bayport) said.

The funding announced Thursday is part of a so-called "minibus" of three annual appropriations bills passed by the House last week and that, following the Senate's passage, President Donald Trump is expected to sign.

Together, the legislation passed by the Senate on Thursday brings to six the annual spending bills approved so far for fiscal 2026 with a Jan. 30 deadline for Congress to act on the remaining six to avoid a partial government shutdown."

Community Conversations in Mastic Beach

Andrew’s team attended a community meeting with the Mastic Beach Chamber of Commerce, joined by more than 80 local members.

The discussion focused on community outreach, small business priorities, school district initiatives, and upcoming local events. These conversations are an important way to stay connected to the Mastic Beach community and ensure local voices are heard.

Supporting Local Law Enforcement in Suffolk County

Andrew’s team attended the Inaugural Ceremony of Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol D. Toulon, Jr. at Suffolk County Community College. The ceremony marked Sheriff Toulon’s third inauguration and highlighted his continued commitment to public safety and service to Suffolk County. Andrew looks forward to continuing to work with local law enforcement to keep Long Island communities safe.

Casework Highlight: Standing Up for Long Islanders

When a Long Island physician was unable to begin work due to a prolonged delay with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Congressman Garbarino’s office stepped in to help. After the constituent reached out on Sunday and provided documentation to our district office on Monday, our team immediately contacted the DEA. The issue was resolved by Thursday morning, allowing the physician to begin working and avoid further professional and financial hardship.

Andrew and his team look forward to helping more Long Islanders get the assistance they need. Whether it’s the VA, Social Security, Medicare, the IRS, passports, or other federal services, the office is always ready to step in and help. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS

Combatting Illicit Drug Trafficking and the Opioid Crisis

Andrew met with the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Sara Carter, to discuss efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and address the opioid crisis.

With Long Island communities continuing to feel the devastating impact of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs, Andrew stressed the importance of strong law enforcement coordination, border security, and prevention strategies to keep drugs out of our neighborhoods and save lives.

Protecting Taxpayer Dollars and National Security

Andrew led Homeland Security Committee Republicans in demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security following reports that Homeland Security Investigations purchased a costly device allegedly linked to “Havana Syndrome” during the Biden administration. The Committee is seeking transparency on how the device was acquired, how much taxpayer money was spent, and what purpose it served. Andrew has made clear that taxpayer dollars must be spent responsibly and that DHS must be fully accountable, especially when national security and the health of U.S. personnel may be at risk.
