Hi team,

This is Dan Freeman, the DNC’s Litigation Director. I’m reaching out to give you an update on the legal work the DNC has done lately to protect the voting rights of every American.

This is a long email, but it’s important to me that we keep you in the know. If you’ve already read about the DNC’s legal work and would like to chip in to help us keep going, you can do so here →

Here’s the bottom line: President Trump continues to weaponize the Department of Justice to attack our fundamental freedoms. We are taking action to stop him.

As President Trump and his allies continue to attack voting by mail, we filed an amicus brief in the Supreme Court that defends the rights of those who rely on mail-in voting to make their voices heard.

We also put 10 states on notice who are being pressured to hand over sensitive, unredacted voter files to the DOJ. The Trump administration is demanding every registered voter’s driver’s license number, Social Security number, and party affiliation, and wants to tell states who should be allowed to vote. But states — not the DOJ — are in charge of voter registration lists, and ignoring protections against voter purges is a one-way ticket to a federal court.

We are urging these states to reject the DOJ agreement, and we’re prepared to use every tool at our disposal to protect voters in these states and beyond.

Here’s the deal: When President Trump and his administration refuse to defend Americans’ voting rights, or actively attempt to violate them, the Democratic National Committee is ready, willing, and able to stand up and defend the American people.

So if fighting the Trump administration is important to you, chip in today. If making sure every vote is counted is important to you, chip in today. If standing up for American democracy is important to you, chip in today. Every bit counts, and we’re strongest when we stand up together.
