Dear Herbert,

It’s hard to look at the headlines without feeling a heavy weight. In 2025, reports showed the lowest number of school shooting incidents in five years, but there were still 159 incidents where a firearm was fired on a school campus.

Every one of those incidents is a tragedy. So when people ask us how we remain optimistic, our answer is simple. We don’t just hope for change; we make solutions for it.

* Legislative Progress: We saw the reintroduction of the bipartisan EAGLES Act to expand threat assessment nationwide and the bipartisan introduction of the Measures for Safer School Districts Act , which sets national standards for school infrastructure and parental notification.
* Direct Advocacy: Stand with Parkland President Tony Montalto testified before the FL Senate Committee on Education on the urgent need for stronger school safety measures.
* Continued Collaboration: We continued to bridge the gap between policy and practice, highlighted by SWP’s participation at events like the Florida School Safety Summit — an event dedicated to bridging mental health and school safety, as well as supporting the federal School Safety Task force and SchoolSafety.gov [[link removed]] .

Our optimism is based on the fact that we are in the room, collaborating on policies, crafting bills that become laws and establishing national standards.

We need your help. Can you chip in today to keep this momentum alive and ensure we can continue to be the voice of change in D.C. and state capitals throughout our nation? [[link removed]]

Together, we can make a real impact in the months ahead.

Thank you,
