Hi there, Phil here. Before I ask you to back our grassroots campaign [[link removed]], I want to reintroduce myself and explain why I hope to earn your support.

I came to Colorado over 30 years ago for a job interview, and that decision changed my life forever. It was here that my wife, Heidi, and I raised our two wonderful kids — three, if you count our mostly-well-behaved dog, Zeke.

I’ve dedicated my life to public service. And, as the son and grandson of Holocaust survivors, I’m committed to our shared American values of liberty, justice, and the idea that all people should live free from discrimination, hatred, and oppression.

My first job after law school was here in Colorado, and it launched my career that included clerking for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, working for President Obama, and serving as the Dean of the University of Colorado Law School. From that first job to now, I have always believed that Colorado is the best place to live and the ideal place to raise a family.

I love our state, folks. And when you love something, you fight for it.

And my commitment to fight for Colorado is why I don’t get it when others try to appease and "work with" bullies like the President and his cabinet.

It does not work. It’s not what leaders do. Not now, not ever. We must take a stand, not be afraid, and not back down.

I know fighting for what’s right isn’t easy. Fights worth having rarely are.

As the People’s Lawyer, I’ve had a lot of practice in these fights. It’s my job to enforce the rule of law, and no one is above it: not deceitful corporations, not abusive employers, and definitely not the federal government. In fact, as part of upholding the rule of law, I’ve taken the Trump administration to court 50 times (and counting) — and won a majority of the time.

I’m proud of the reputation I’ve built here in Colorado. I’m not here to do “politics as usual.” I’m here to fight for you, not the powerful or wealthy few. And I am always going to show up, listen, and deliver for all of Colorado.
