ICE has frequently been labeled as America’s own Gestapo, but that’s not the only historical antecedent that we should invoke. It’s also a resurrection of the Klan, but this time with de jure, as opposed to de facto, state power. |

This past week has shown that you can’t leave something as important as resisting the government up to the opposition party. The bravery of citizens in Minneapolis is the only kind of resistance to occupation that has a chance of working. |

The law is clear: Officers are not allowed to kill ordinary civilians to stop them from fleeing. It is critically important that state and local authorities do all in their power to conduct their own investigation and bring ICE agent Jonathan Ross to trial. |

There are at least two things that can stop a government police force that’s violently out of control. One occurs when it performs its brutality out in the open, where it can be recorded. The second comes when it attacks people with whom the public can empathize. ICE did both. |

According to residents, the basic tactic seems to be ICE convoys driving around looking for any nonwhite person out by themselves, jumping out and dragging them into a van, and then driving off. |
