Washington, D.C. – Always enjoy catching up with our local leaders! It was great to meet with Dallas City Councilwoman Cara Mendelsohn this past weekend! I appreciate all the work she is doing in North Texas, and always value time to catch up about things that matter most in our community.
On Monday, I joined Secretary Hegseth on his Arsenal of Freedom tour alongside many of my Texas colleagues. We visited Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, where the F-35 fighter jets are produced. The defense industry is booming in North Texas, employing thousands and relying on suppliers and small businesses from across our state.
Tuesday, the Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee held a hearing on preserving American innovation and technology leadership. To listen to my remarks click here, or on the photo below.
I had the chance to meet with the American Gem Trade Association where we discussed the value of the Trump trade agenda and my recently introduced legislation, the Fair Trade Act.
Wednesday morning I spoke at the State of Steel hearing hosted by the Congressional Steel Caucus. I highlighted the Leveling the Playing Field 2.0 Act, a bill I introduced with Rep. Terri Sewell to level the playing field for the American steel industry and their workers.
The Ways and Means committee met for our first markup of the new year, where we advanced four bills out of committee, including my Ensuring Children Receive Support Act. To watch my remarks click here, or on the photo below. Read more in my Work of the Week section.
It was great to meet with the Commercials Metals Company to talk about recycling operations in Texas and their economic impact across our state.
That evening I joined my colleague, Rep. McClintock, on the Bottom Line. You can watch our interview here, or featured in the News section below.
Thursday we passed the Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act, reversing the Biden Administration rule that allowed fund managers to prioritize high-risk ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors over financial performance.
I was able to deliver additional remarks on the Leveling the Playing Field 2.0 Act at a Trade Enforcement Briefing this week, where attendees heard from panelists from the steel industry. Our legislation will allow American workers to compete on a more level playing field by cracking down on exploitative trade practices from countries like China that put American manufacturers at a disadvantage.
This year our office will deliver cards to veterans in our community to show our appreciation for their service! Drop off or mail cards to our district office by Wednesday, February 4, 2026!
