Friend — I have to share this incredible victory for our public lands and waters with you.
Thanks to the hard work of LCV members like you, Congress just overwhelmingly
passed the Great American Outdoors Act, which will permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund and provide billions to maintain and protect our national parks and other public lands. This was only possible because of the grassroots power of organizers and communities across the country who have been fighting tirelessly to make our green spaces more accessible and protect them for generations to come.
With these critical investments in our public lands, families across the country will have more access to local parks and green spaces to relax, play, and thrive. This victory for our outdoors is all thanks to the grassroots power of tens of thousands LCV members who have rallied, signed petitions, and contacted their members of Congress.
When you speak out, we win.
Passing the Great American Outdoors Act is an important step forward that starts us on a pathway to meeting scientists' call to protect at least 30% of America's lands and oceans by 2030. But it's just the beginning of the work that we must do to build a more equitable and inclusive conservation movement. As we have seen so clearly over the last few months,
we have so much work to do to ensure that Black communities, Indigenous communities, and other communities of color are able to feel safe, welcome, and included in these spaces.
LCV is committed to working alongside communities of color in the years to come to ensure that the outdoors are reflective of all of our stories and accessible to all — to jog, to bird watch, to protest, and to enjoy our natural heritage and outdoor spaces without fear, exclusion, or oppression. We will continue to fight with the support of LCV members like you to address systemic barriers, injustices, and institutionalized racism that have made our lands and waters inaccessible for far too long. We will keep dedicated LCV members like you informed along the way so that you can join us in the fight to build a more equitable and inclusive conservation movement.
Thank you for all that you've done to support us in this critical fight.
