Hello John,
As we embark on what is sure to be an exciting 2026, I wanted to share with
you some recent polling we commissioned to find out how Americans view health
care policy and the solutions they would like to see implemented.
The poll was conducted in early December by Public Opinion Strategies, one of
America’s premier polling firms. Let’s break down the results. (If you want to
see the entire poll, clickhere

.)
1. Americans want Washington to work on bringing down costs (including health
care).
* Reducing the cost of living (69%) and lowering health care costs (44%) are
the top issues voters want Congress and the president to address.
* 82% say bringing down health care costs should be a top priority for
Congress.
2. Voters overwhelmingly want a health care system that puts them – not
government – in control.
* 83% of voters prefer changes to the health care system that increase
options for personalized care rather than increasing government control and
subsidies.
* 80% think we should be enacting policies that give individual Americans
financial support and letting them choose the health care coverage option they
want.
* Just 20% prefer policies that give government greater authority to pay for,
manage, and regulate health insurance.
3. Voters want more access to direct primary care.
* 78% approve of direct primary care arrangements.
* 75% support Congress passing legislation to increase availability of DPC
arrangements.
4. Voters strongly favor consumer-driven solutions like health savings
accounts over greater government control.
* 83% think health savings accounts are a good option for reducing health
care costs.
* 82% support legislation that would allow any American who want one to have
an HSA.
* 85% think HSA holders should be able to use it to buy whatever health
insurance they want.
Here’s the bottom line: Voters are sending a clear message that the health
care system is not working for them. They see it as too expensive, too
confusing, and too dominated by government and insurance companies.
As Public Opinion Strategies pollster Jarrett Lewis put it:
The message for policymakers is unmistakable: voters want solutions that
reduce costs and put them back in the driver’s seat. They are frustrated with
the system as it stands, and they are ready to support leaders who prioritize
affordability, transparency, and greater control for individuals and families.
Simply put, voters want Congress to focus on bringing down costs and giving
people more control over their own coverage decisions. And they prefer reforms
that expand choice and flexibility rather than ones that increase government
involvement.
Health care will remain huge next year
* With health care likely to be at the top of the issue agenda this year in
Washington, we will be working to get Congress and the president to enact the
type of personalized health care solution Americans say they want — and we hope
we can count on your continued support.
* 2025 delivered some big wins on health care, and we intend to keep up the
momentum in 2026.
