Friend — Recently, as part of its attempt to ban affordable clean energy, the Trump administration ordered a halt to ongoing construction of five offshore wind projects along the East Coast. Further adding to skyrocketing energy costs, they’ve ordered multiple polluting, expensive coal plants in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, and Washington to keep operating past their planned shutdowns, costing nearby ratepayers well over a million dollars A DAY.

This move is a shock to surrounding communities — and even to the coal plant operators themselves. And who will pay the price? Everyday people.
The Trump administration is going against the wishes of the communities where these coal plants operate, putting people’s health and budgets and our climate in danger, all to enrich his cronies in the fossil fuel industry. But together, we can push back.

Trump’s blueprint for propping up the dirty and dying coal industry is coming into clear focus: declare a bogus "emergency" or "threat" to shut down affordable, clean, sustainable energy sources like wind and solar, then order outdated, rundown, dirty, expensive coal plants to stay open at great cost to families' health and pocketbooks.
In Colorado, the Craig Generating Station’s operator has warned that families will now pay more to prop up outdated, failing infrastructure instead of moving toward affordable clean energy that protects our health.

Our movement is already responding — for example, in Michigan, where we rallied the community to show that NO ONE WANTS THESE COAL PLANTS OPEN. We’re going to keep campaigning until we close these plants for good and deliver affordable clean energy to families struggling to make ends meet.
