John,

FIRST: The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in 2013, opening the floodgates for Republicans to suppress Black, indigenous, and other people of color from accessing the ballot box.

THEN: In 2019, Representative John Lewis led the charge to pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

NOW: The bill is collecting dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk. He refuses to even bring it to the Senate floor.

NEXT: We must use the collective power of our voices to demand the Senate GOP take the bill to a vote.

We can’t back down from this fight until every single person in this country is guaranteed their constitutional right to the ballot.

John Lewis once said, “The right to vote is precious and almost sacred… We must be vigilant in protecting that blessing… The vote is the most powerful, non-violent tool we have in a democratic society.”

Together, let’s honor his legacy by making good trouble to fight voter suppression.
