News from Congressman Mike Levin

Dear Neighbor,

It has been a turbulent start to the year. At a time when families are worried about health care costs, grocery bills, and electricity prices, Washington has been pulled into high-profile debates about Venezuela and even Greenland.

I am approaching those issues with a clear principle. Decisions of this magnitude must follow the Constitution and respect checks and balances, with Congress playing its proper role. At the same time, my top priority remains here at home. I am working every day to lower costs, protect health care, and deliver real results for our district.

I want to share an update on what I have been working on these first weeks of January on your behalf.

Next Telephone Town Hall

When I was sworn in as a Member of Congress, I made a pledge to hold a town hall every month, and I’ve kept my word. I invite you to my next telephone town hall on Thursday, January 22nd, at 5pm PT.

I’ll be answering your questions and giving you an update on the latest in Washington and how I’m fighting to lower costs. You can either register below by Wednesday, January 21st, or listen live on my website or Facebook. By registering, you will receive a phone call at the beginning of the town hall. No need to worry about dialing in or marking your calendar – I’ll call you when the event begins.

My Bill to Ensure No Taxpayer Dollars Go to Venezuela's Oil Infrastructure

I introduced a new bill to prevent American taxpayer dollars from being used to rebuild Venezuela’s oil infrastructure and reimburse oil companies that seek to make a profit. I’m proud to join Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley in introducing this bicameral legislation to protect your tax dollars from abuse by the Trump Administration’s military action in Venezuela.

One Year Anniversary of the LA Fires

WATCH HERE

One year ago, wildfires ripped through Los Angeles, claiming 31 lives and upending thousands more. California is no stranger to wildfires, but the flames we face today are getting bigger, hotter, and more dangerous than ever. This is not normal. Families are still rebuilding. Communities are still recovering. We can’t let politics stand in the way of protecting Americans from climate-fueled disasters.

Bringing $26 Million to Improve Flood Protection for Oceanside

Image

WATCH HERE

Oceanside residents deserve the strongest possible flood protection for their homes and businesses. That’s why I advanced $26 million to begin essential levee improvements and other safety work along the San Luis Rey River. This is a long-term investment in public safety and environmental health, ensuring the river system meets modern flood protection standards and keeps our community safe for years to come.

ACA Tax Credits Update

I’ve been fighting for months to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that keep health premiums low, protect your access to health care, and keep your hard-earned money in your pocket

While I believe much more must be done to fix our health care system, it is clear that without the extension, four million Americans will be priced out of their health care. Millions will lose their health care entirely, forgo lifesaving care, and health insurance prices will go up for all of us.

Have you gotten notice that your premiums are rising? Help me share your story in Washington by filling out this form
