I need to be up front with you, Jack: Daily Kos didn't reach our fundraising
goal in December—this is the third month in a row that we missed our monthly
goal. Now we are on track to miss our January fundraising goal too.

The past couple of years, we have seen two of our three revenue streams
decline. We have to make up that difference to continue producing the quality
of content and impactful actions you have come to expect from us. We increased
our monthly fundraising goals this year because we really had no other choice.

Grassroots donations—averaging just $9.44—now account for 80% of our total
income. In order to accomplish our mission, hit our goals, and continue
