"Richardson joins the Grant County bench after more than 12 years at the Office of the Attorney General"

Jen

*OLYMPIA *– Today Governor Bob Ferguson announced the appointment of Jennifer Richardson to the Grant County Superior Court. Richardson’s appointment, effective Jan. 9, 2026, fills the position vacated by Judge Hill, who Ferguson recently appointed to the Court of Appeals, Division III [ [link removed] ].

Richardson is a career litigator with more than two decades of legal experience. She has served four years in her current role as a managing assistant attorney general at the state Office of the Attorney General, where she advises and represents state agencies in Grant, Douglas, Chelan and Okanogan counties. She supervises four attorneys and two paralegals, and provides training to client agencies. She has been with the Attorney General’s Office for 12 years in total.

“Jennifer Richardson’s legal expertise and years of public service will make her an excellent Grant County judge,” Governor Ferguson said.

“I am honored by this appointment and grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Grant County,” Richardson said. “I am committed to careful, fair decision-making and to treating every person who comes before the court with dignity and respect.”

Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Richardson spent more than 12 years as a deputy prosecutor at the Okanogan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, including nine years as Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor. In that role, she oversaw and prosecuted a broad range of cases in District and Superior Court.

Richardson has also previously worked as a public defender at the Law Offices of Scot D. Stuart, where she represented criminal defendants in a variety of proceedings.

Outside the courtroom, Richardson served on the Attorney General’s Racial Equity Unit Goal Planning Committee, Manager Training Committee and Basic Litigation Skills Committee. She received numerous performance awards from the Attorney General’s Office during her tenure there.

Richardson also enjoys hiking, gardening and spending time with family.

Richardson earned her bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University and her law degree from Syracuse University.
