Hi John, it’s Josh Stein, Governor of North Carolina reaching out to you for the first time this year to ask: Will you sign on to my petition to demand the GOP keep their hands off our health care?

It is a core belief of mine that we should be expanding access to affordable health care, not restricting it.

Last year, DC Republicans were relentless in their attacks on our health care. Their budget cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid to pay for a billionaire tax break. They let Affordable Care Act tax credits expire on January 1, causing insurance prices to skyrocket for millions of Americans who rely on them for coverage – including nearly 1 million North Carolinians – and forcing some to even lose their health insurance altogether because it’s too expensive.

But while they make cuts, Democratic governors like me are doing the opposite. We’re fighting for our health care – even when Washington Republicans won’t. We work in our states to help folks continue receiving the care they need to stay healthy, strengthen our rural health care systems, lower costs, and save lives. We can accomplish so much when we come together and put the well-being of our people first – but we need your support in this fight, John.
