Disruption expected during road resurfacing

A section of Queens Drive is being resurfaced from next week.

This will affect the stretch between Crossgate Drive and Castle Bridge Road. Work will begin on Monday (19 January) and last until Friday 6 February with road closures and diversions. It will then continue until Friday 6 March with just lane closures.

Staff will be working overnight from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.

Clifton line closure for tram maintenance works

Clifton tram

There will be no service between Queen's Walk and Clifton South next weekend - affecting trams in both directions.

On Saturday and Sunday 24 and 25 January, NET will be carrying out maintenance between Wilford and Clifton.

Work is required to replace the track ballast (stones beneath the tracks) at Wilford Lane, which was damaged following the severe flooding in January 2024 and needs to be replaced.

A52 one-way system to be re-introduced

National Highways has reminded motorists that the temporary lifting of restrictions on the A52 Derby Road for Christmas will come to an end next week.

From 6am on Tuesday 20 January, the A52 will revert to a 24/7 one-way system for eastbound traffic between Priory and QMC roundabouts, so engineers can complete work on the shared footway and cycleway.

All westbound bus stops will be suspended, while for eastbound buses temporary stops will be placed at the Priory roundabout and also near the QMC roundabout.

EMR train station footbridge

Station footbridge to close at weekends

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has announced that its footbridge over the platforms at Nottingham Station will close during weekends from the start of next month.

The company says that data has shown that a recent extension of restrictions led to a significant reduction in assaults and abuse towards both staff and customers.

In August last year, EMR restricted access to platforms via the footbridge between 7pm and 6am each day, replacing the previous 11pm to 5am window. It will now restrict access on weekends, closing at 7pm on Friday and reopening on Monday at 6am. This will start from February 6.

Despite these changes, the footbridge will continue to serve as a public right of way 24/7, maintaining access between Station Street and Queen’s Road, including connections to the tram network.

EMR will also retain the ability to open the gates during major events, times of crowding, or in response to emergencies, ensuring operational flexibility.

Get your ticket to Ride! More than 4,000 using new travel app for Nottingham

Ride logo

A ground-breaking new travel app for residents and commuters in Nottingham has been downloaded more than 4,000 times in its first month.

Ride, a partnership between Nottingham and Derby city councils, was officially launched in December and is available for people to download free in their app stores.

Ride enables users to plan, book, pay and ride any journey in the wider Nottingham and Derby areas, across multiple different types of public transport - all in one handy place.

It gives people point-to-point route planning and allows them to buy tickets for all parts of their journey. Another excellent feature is the live map which shows every bus moving in real-time, so easy to know whether you have time to finish your coffee or dash for the stop!

The app has been built using money secured from the Government's Future Transport Zones programme. Nottingham and Derby councils joined forces to bid for the grant, which encourages projects that promote sustainable travel and behaviour change.

Read more here and download the app through the new Ride website here.
