Know Your Rights Workshop

Monday, Jan 26 | 6 PM

Offered in English, co-presented by The Center and the Jacob Riis A. Settlement, this workshop will share information on immigrants’ rights in NYC and the range of services available to the community. Discussion topics will include maneuvering encounters with ICE; your rights at home, in public, and at work; how to understand and recognize judicial warrants; what to do if you're arrested; your right to an education; and protections from workplace discrimination.

DYCD Youth Count Winter Ball

Wednesday, Jan 8 | 4–7 PM

DYCD and The Center present the Winter Ball in support of the 2026 Youth Count. Walk the runway as Odile or Odette, compete for the Swan Queen finale, and shine in the Winter Wonderland Vogue Femme category. All hosted by MC Snookie. While you’re here, take the Youth Count—a quick, confidential survey that helps shape support for NYC youth. Food and drinks will be served. For youth and young adults ages 13–24.

Career & Resume Coaching Day

Tuesday, Feb 3 | 10 AM–2 PM

The Center is proud to offer a day of free career and resume coaching hosted by business professionals from various companies and industries. Participants will have 15–20 minutes with a coach to review their resume or talk about best interview practices. Registration is required. Please bring more than one printed copy of your resume.

More Than a Game: Transgender Youth’s Right to Sports

West Virginia student Becky Pepper-Jackson was blocked from playing on her school’s sports team because she is transgender. She took the state to court and The Center was there to support her fight. On Tuesday, Jan 13, alongside other organizations from across the country, The Center stood at the steps of the Supreme Court as the Justices heard oral arguments on transgender students’ ability to participate freely in school athletics.
