Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen federal agents use force against protesters in Portland and throw them into unmarked cars -- all at the orders of Donald Trump. Now, Trump says he’s going to send federal agents into Chicago.
I can’t sit idly by and say nothing as he plans to send heavily armed federal agents into our city to terrorize our communities. It’s egregious and anti-democratic. Trump and his administration clearly have no regard for the civil rights, constitutional rights, and human rights of its own citizens.
But should we really expect more from a guy like Trump? He’s a bully, period.
I know a thing or two about fighting back against bullies -- and when I’m elected to Congress, that’s exactly what I plan to do. Can you help make that a reality by chipping in to this campaign before our monthly fundraising deadline?

When one of my children was getting severely bullied in school, I founded a national non-profit program called “Team Up To Stop Bullying” to address the problem, and ended up expanding it nationwide. I worked directly with state and federal legislators to make anti-bullying policies a priority and even wrote a book designed to provide solutions for both parents and schools. So I know how to deal with people like Trump.
He seems to be one of those guys who thinks picking on and belittling people makes him more powerful. We’ve seen him do it to immigrants from the very beginning of his campaign. We watched as he tried to ban people from entering this country based on their religion.
Right now, Trump and Betsy DeVos are bullying parents, children, and teachers into reopening schools with little to no plans on how to keep them safe and healthy during this pandemic.
And sending in armed federal agents to cities like Portland and Chicago is just another example of how Trump thinks that “governing” means bulldozing over the voices and rights of others.
