The fight for fair maps couldn’t be more urgent right now.

President Trump signed an executive memo this week proposing to exclude undocumented residents from the 2020 Census. Trump’s latest move is unconstitutional and throws a wrench into our only chance to have a seat at the redistricting table in 2021.

How? Let me explain. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution states that representatives must be apportioned by "counting the whole number of persons" in each state.

That means our census numbers will be screwed. That means our schools, hospitals, and communities will lose out on crucial federal funding. But most importantly, fewer people means we LOSE districts in Texas, the GOP will get to draw even MORE favorable lines, keep control of the House, and embrace extreme partisan legislation for the next DECADE.

Undocumented immigrants pay their taxes and contribute to the economy too. Every community has a constitutional right to be equally represented. Period. Help us fight back before it’s too late.
