John, ICE is
terrorizing our communities and it’s okay not to feel okay. As the Chicana
daughter of immigrants who watched my dad get deported when I was just a
teen, this hits close to home.
Despite feeling overwhelmed and saddened, I know it’s important for me and
my community to be proactive to protect our neighbors.
Yesterday, ICE agents were seen in multiple neighborhoods in Northeast LA
including Cypress, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Lincoln
Heights and El Sereno.
In the midst of this kind of violence and abductions, I’m so proud of my
community for stepping up to protect each other. These rapid response
networks and notification systems are how we can take care of our
neighbors.
One thing is clear: ICE isn’t slowing down. They’re going to continue to
abduct, abuse, and even murder people.
Our community can’t do this alone, we need leaders who will hold the line
and fight back with us against this inhumanity. That includes leaders in
Congress.
[ [link removed] ]These acts of violence are a threat to all of our homes, families, and
communities. As a Chicana woman who was directly affected by my father’s
deportation, let me fight for you. Please, donate anything you can right
now to send me to Congress.
