Hi John,

I have an urgent request. You’ve certainly seen data centers all over the news lately with new ones and new proposals popping up constantly across the state. These data centers need massive amounts of energy to operate and currently there are no requirements that data centers must pay 100 percent of their full energy costs.

TAKE action now: urge your state legislators to reject AB 840 >>> [[link removed]]

Wisconsin residents should not have to pay for large tech companies to site data centers in their communities. Period. Data centers should have to pay the full costs of their energy load , including being connected to the electrical grid.

A new Republican bill, AB 840, introduced last week, would increase costs and pollution for Wisconsin residents by limiting lower-cost renewables and not explicitly requiring that tech companies pay the full costs of their energy and connection to the energy grid. That bill is moving fast and is expected to be in the Assembly on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

TAKE action now: urge your state legislators to reject AB 840 >>> [[link removed]]

We should be moving protections for Wisconsin residents like those laid out in the Data Center Accountability Bill (SB 729), introduced in December. That bill would move Wisconsin forward, while AB 840 would keep our communities stuck with unnecessary pollution and higher rates.

It is crucial that our state legislature reject AB 840. Wisconsin residents cannot be left vulnerable to the destructive impacts of data centers.
Contact your state legislators today and ask them to reject AB 840 >>> [[link removed]]
