What happened in Minneapolis is unacceptable. But let’s be clear about what’s going on there and around the US: the Trump administration has sent thousands of DHS personnel to communities to intentionally agitate, harass, and stoke fear and division in those communities.

This is a pattern of behavior by this administration, and these masked and heavily armed federal agents aren’t making our neighborhoods safe. Instead, they are ripping apart families and communities, roaming around neighborhoods going door-to-door, and leaving serious criminals on the loose.

The way these agents are acting makes it clear that they do not feel they have to follow any laws and are not accountable to the public.

This is all part of a growing trend of lawlessness from those in this administration, and Chris is leading the effort to hold them accountable, rein them in, and push his colleagues to fight back.

Right now, the Senate is poised to consider the bill that funds DHS and he’s working to build support to include commonsense measures and funding restrictions that ensure:

• These door to door unlawful sweeps stop by requiring DHS to obtain a warrant before they arrest anyone,
• These violent tactics stop by getting Border Patrol out of the interior and back to the border, where they belong,
• A clear message is sent from Congress by ensuring that ICE receives no additional funding to continue their aggressive tactics, and
• ICE does not get a single additional dollar to expand detention and expand these cruel tactics.

He needs your help to make clear that people are outraged and demanding reform. ICE should not get a single additional dollar.

Will you please add your name to demand Congress take action to rein in DHS agents and prevent DHS from getting additional money? We need to demonstrate broad public support for reform.

This administration wants to make us feel like the greatest threat to our nation is our neighbors, so they can steal from us when we are distracted.

We can’t let that happen.
