On just the second day of the 2026 legislative session, Republicans are already pushing extreme abortion bans in a subcommittee hearing.

One bill would allow the death penalty — yes, you read that right: the death penalty — for women who get an abortion.

The other bill would ban medication abortion — despite the clear medical consensus that it is safe and effective.

Let’s be clear: Republican lies are a pill we refuse to swallow. This is not about protecting life, it’s about taking away freedom from women in South Carolina — and Democrats are fighting back.

SC House Democrats are standing up today to speak the truth, stand with doctors and women, and fight back against these dangerous proposals. But we are outnumbered — and that makes your support more important than ever.
