Dear Friend,

After 26 years representing the extraordinary district I’m proud to call
home, I’m preparing to retire. I love our community – one that stands up
for the persecuted, welcomes immigrants and insists that every family
deserves dignity. So too does our desire for Jewish safety and our
compassion for Palestinians come from the same place.

Now, it’s my job to leave this district, and the American people, in good
hands.

That is why I’m endorsing the Mayor of Evanston, Daniel Biss, to succeed
me in Congress, and why I’m asking you to join me in supporting him via
JStreetPAC today.

I’ve watched Daniel grow from a young professor shaken by the rush to war
in Iraq into a public servant who wears his heart on his sleeve. When our
neighbors were kidnapped and separated by Trump’s ICE raids, Daniel didn’t
hedge or hide. He showed up. He stood with immigrant communities, spoke
out against cruelty and challenged a regime that treated people as
disposable.

He understands this district – Skokie, Evanston, Chicago’s North Side – a
place where Jewish life thrives, where Holocaust survivors built new
beginnings and where people also grieve deeply for Palestinian families
living under violence and displacement. 

Daniel believes what so many of us know in our bones: Real safety comes
from equality, human rights and a just peace for Israelis and Palestinians
alike.

Today, he’s up against a flood of spending from powerful political
networks – the same networks that have backed far-right politicians across
the country. They’re spending because they know Daniel won’t be pressured
to abandon his principles.

He’ll stand up to extremism. He’ll fight for democracy at home. And he’ll
work for a future in which Israelis and Palestinians can both live in
freedom and safety – the only future worthy of our values.

Before I endorsed Daniel, I told him there was one condition: If you win,
you need to be a badass like me. He smiled and promised. He’s already been
living that promise, and now it’s our turn to have his back.
