Prayer Partner Weekly Update
July 25, 2020

"But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts."

– Isaiah 5:16

Africa & Europe

  • Pray for a widow in Uganda who has been a victim of land theft, suffering from many years of threats and violence against her family as they have tried to live peacefully on their land. In recent weeks, the neighbor who has been attempting to take over her family land has resorted to legal threats, including accusations that led to the widow and one of her family members to be arrested on charges of theft. Pray for them as they are currently in prison awaiting a bail hearing. Pray for their freedom and for their ultimate safety and peace on their own land.

Latin America

  • Praise God for the commitment local authorities in the Dominican Republic continue to show to carrying out rescue operations and bringing children to safety, even in the midst of the pandemic. Last week, they performed two operations and rescued four survivors of violence: three sisters, ages 6 to 12, were rescued from physical abuse and neglect, and a 14-year-old was rescued from sexual violence. Pray for these four survivors as they continue their restoration process in safety. Pray also for local authorities as they take next steps to prosecute the suspected aggressors. Read more about these rescues.

South Asia

  • Pray for survivors of sex trafficking and bonded labor as they await their scores on their school exams. This month, many young survivors or survivors' children are receiving the results of their 10th or 12th grade exams, which in South Asia dictate their next options for higher education. Many survivors have their sights set on university and would be the first in their families to go. Pray that all their hard work would pay off with strong scores, and that they would get good opportunities to pursue education and break the cycle of poverty.

Southeast Asia

  • Praise God for a rescue and arrest that took place this week in the Philippines. Two suspects were arrested for offering to livestream the sexual abuse of four children between the ages of two and eight years old. Pray for the recovery of the children, who have been taken to a shelter to receive trauma-informed care.
