It's only been a week since ICE shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. And just a day later, federal officers shot and injured two people in Portland. Since then, Trump and his administration have blamed Renee, ramped up racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric, and argued that ICE has "absolute immunity."

It's sickening and it's wrong.

This administration is terrorizing communities and causing immense harm. I am leading legislation to end these abusive, authoritarian tactics, and I'm joining several of my colleagues in bringing forward articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem. I will not stop fighting until ICE and this rogue administration are held accountable for these unconscionable abuses.

People in Oregon and around the country see these threats to democracy and have made their voices heard at rallies and protests. Many want to do more.

Below are some more opportunities to continue to make your voice heard and stand up to this inhumane, authoritarian administration.

  • The Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition is working to protect the immigrant community locally and provides important "Know Your Rights" training and opportunities for volunteers. I hope you will consider supporting them with a donation or your time and energy.
  • My colleague from Washington State, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, created Resistance Lab, a training program that includes a curriculum written by experts on democracy and immigration. The next virtual training is on January 25th from 11am - 1pm. There is no charge. You can sign up here to join this important event.
  • Indivisible is still hosting regular rallies and events in communities across the country. Here you can find local, in-person opportunities near you.
  • Keep up the pressure. Please continue to call your Representatives, share information with your community, and speak out for justice and democracy.

Thank you for standing with me in this fight.

With appreciation,

Suzanne
