If you thought Trump taking over Venezuela oil was enough, now he won’t stop talking about taking Greenland next. It’s completely bonkers!
Trump wants to throw away decades of treaties and alliances with our NATO ally Denmark in order to control Greenland’s “mineral wealth” — even though it makes absolutely no economic sense, and we already have unfettered access to these natural resources.
Let’s be clear: this is all about Trump throwing his weight around to stroke his ego. Greenland has actively courted foreign investment in mining before, but the reason companies aren’t interested is that it can be five or ten times more expensive to mine there because of the harsh Arctic conditions.
We cannot let Trump throw our allies under the bus just to make himself feel powerful.
