Dear Friend,
For too long, Big Polluters have targeted Latin American communities to extract their resources, interfere in democracies, and harm communities. But across the region, people are fighting back and demanding that polluters pay for these abuses. On January 27 at noon Eastern time, join Corporate Accountability for a special screening of Que Paguen, the compelling 20-minute documentary about the campaign to make Big Polluters pay in Latin America.
In 2023, our team organized a Que Paguen gathering that brought together the voices of ten social and environmental leaders from nine countries (Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil) to learn from each other and strategize collectively. The documentary was filmed during this gathering and highlights both the harms communities face and the inspiring resistance and organizing happening across the region.
The film exposes ten powerful cases of extractive industry abuse, from mining and fracking to agribusiness and oil, told through the voices of these social and environmental leaders.
