Legal: Kids in Need of Defense Seeking Family Law Attorneys

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is seeking family law attorneys throughout the United States, and particularly in Texas, California, New York, Florida, and New Orleans, who can help deported parents and/or U.S. based children of deported parents, in custody, legal guardianship, and other caregiver matters. KIND staff in Honduras assists parents who have been separated from their children and deported to Honduras without them. Parents need family law attorneys who can represent them or their U.S. based child(ren) to support family reunification, ensure children have an adult caregiver who is legally responsible for them, and/or prevent children from entering the foster care system. If your organization has information about family law attorneys in any state, and particularly the locations listed above, please send that information to: [email protected]. Information shared will be included in the referrals provided to deported, separated parents.

Communications: Eligibility Chart Pack Pitch

PIF released a comprehensive update of eligibility for federally funded health and social services in December. News outlets serving immigrant families are a great way to get this important information in front of families who need it. You can help, using the sample pitch below to share the “chart pack” with local reporters.
