Friend, If you care about cosmetics ingredients, you need to be aware of what is happening in California. Last month, the California Assembly passed the Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act by a bipartisan vote of 54-0. The bill bans 12 of the most toxic chemicals used in cosmetics sold in California, including mercury, formaldehyde, parabens, phthalates and PFAS chemicals. The bill now needs to pass in the state Senate and then be signed into law by Gov. Newsom. If that happens, it could have huge implications for cosmetics safety, not just in California but in the rest of the U.S., too. Below are some resources to help you understand why this new legislation is big news, how you can take action to support it, and ways you can protect yourself and your loved ones from concerning ingredients in personal care products. |
