John—

When I was first elected to represent the Massachusetts 7th in 2018, I was
proud to be sworn in alongside the first-ever pro-choice majority in the
House of Representatives. This historic achievement gives me — and all my
Democratic colleagues in the House — a mandate to fight for reproductive
freedom and justice for all, not just those who can afford it.

When I say it is time to legislate our values and write budgets that
affirm the dignity and worth of Black and Brown lives, I mean it. That’s
why on Thursday I filed an amendment, along with my colleagues, to finally
repeal the Hyde Amendment.^1

We must continue to think big and bold to dismantle structures of power
that undermine our reproductive freedom and prevent racial equality across
our society. Repealing the Hyde Amendment is a vital part of that effort.
I will continue working toward the goal of reproductive justice for as
long as I’m in Congress — and I am so thankful to have NARAL Pro-Choice
America members like you by my side in this fight,
John.

Defeating the Hyde Amendment is a racial justice issue because it
disproportionately harms low-income, Black, Brown, and Indigenous
communities. It is a reproductive freedom issue because it allows Congress
to perpetuate paternalistic and discriminatory restrictions to insert —
mostly white, mostly men — politicians into individual decisions about
womxn’s reproductive health.

It is time for us to be bold. It is time for us to end Hyde and legislate
with our values, not political convenience.

[ [link removed] ]Help us keep building power to make sure that reproductive freedom is
for every body. Please, make a split donation of $15 between
NARAL Pro-Choice America and my reelection campaign now.

Thank you everything that you’re doing to work for justice and equity,

Rep. Ayanna Pressley
