Dear friend,
This week, Kentucky House Democrats released "A Common Vision for the Commonwealth," a bold agenda to help working families. Meanwhile, Republicans who control both chambers haven't released a thing.
Democrats are fighting to protect SNAP benefits for nearly 600,000 Kentuckians, cap medical debt interest at 3%, and invest $335 million to keep rural hospitals open. Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong introduced legislation to permanently protect Medicaid expansion in our state constitution.
Senator Reggie Thomas is pushing to raise Kentucky's minimum wage. It's been 17 years since the federal minimum increased, and 30 states have already moved past it. Kentucky should too.
And Rep. Lindsey Burke is fighting to eliminate sales tax on essentials like diapers, medicine, and utilities. Because right now, Kentucky taxes diapers but not gold bars.
Democrats have a plan. Republicans don't.
Can you please chip in $10 or $25 today to help us keep fighting for Kentucky families?
Thank you for all you do,
Kentucky Democratic Party
P.S. Governor Beshear just proposed a budget that fully funds Medicaid and includes $100 million to lower health coverage costs.
