The House passed it. Now it's up to the Senate. ([link removed])
The House just passed a three-year extension of the ACA subsidies. Every
Virginia Democrat voted yes. Every Virginia Republican voted no.
For the more than 400,000 Virginians who get their insurance through the
marketplace, premiums have already gone up by an average of 21%. Some families
are seeing increases over 100%. Aetna dropped out of the Virginia market
entirely, leaving nearly 14,000 people scrambling for new coverage.
The bill now goes to the Senate. If Republicans block it, Virginians will keep
paying higher costs through 2026 and beyond.
Open enrollment closes tomorrow. Anyone still deciding on coverage should know
that Congress could still act, but there are no guarantees.
