Like so many Americans, I watched the footage out of Minnesota this weekend and felt sick to my stomach. Renee Good, a mother of three, was killed by ICE in broad daylight.

The agent fired the shots surrounded by multiple witnesses and while cameras were rolling. Think about that.

This is what happens when an agency is told laws don’t apply to them. Let’s be direct about it: Trump does not respect our neighbors’ basic decency or our nation’s laws. ICE is following his lead.

Now Trump is pushing Congress to increase ICE’s budget.

He’s betting lawmakers will give in to him again. That Congress will hand over more money and more power without guardrails.

I’m not playing that game.

I have direct oversight of ICE’s funding, and I will vote NO on any bill that increases ICE’s budget. And I will continue fighting for strict safeguards including prohibiting agents from hiding behind masks to evade accountability.

It’s time for Congress to stop looking away and actually do something to fight back.

I’m asking my colleagues to stand with me - and I’m asking you to keep speaking out, too.

Enough is enough.
