In Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood, federal immigration agents opened fire on Marimar Martinez after falsely claiming she had rammed their vehicle. Martinez was shot five times but thankfully survived.
Just last week in Minneapolis, ICE agents shot and killed Renee Nicole Good — a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and a mother — in an escalation of violence that should never have happened.
The ICE raids in Chicago have also disrupted the Safe Passage program, which was designed to protect kids from violence and guns on their way to and from school. That’s a big deal. In the U.S., an average of 57 shootings occur near a school every day. And in the past decade, data showed that Chicago had 97 schools with at least 100 shootings in their vicinity.
ICE agents are not even required to wear body cameras and are authorized to use deadly force against someone who poses a “deadly threat” (totally up to their own discretion). And Trump’s DOJ is doing nothing to hold these agents accountable.

One senior DOJ lawyer even said “There is a zero chance of an (immigration) agent being criminally charged with this administration.” That is shocking.
