Governor Gordon Signs on to RGA Statement Supporting Idaho and West Virginia Laws Protecting Women’s Sports
"These laws are prudent ways to ensure women’s rights remain protected.”
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Jan. 13, 2026 - Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) signed a joint statement from the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) yesterday in support of protecting women’s sports.
“Women have fought for decades for the respect they deserve to be able to compete in sports,” Governor Gordon said. “As a father of girls who competed in sports I know the value that sports has in developing teamwork and confidence in girls. These laws are prudent ways to ensure women’s rights remain protected.”
The statement was sent in conjunction with the United States Supreme Court hearing oral arguments from Idaho and West Virginia in defense of their laws to protect women’s sports.
“Recognizing the unique and inherent biological differences between men and women is not radical, it is commonsence. Those trying to erase our unique differences and ignore biological reality are doing so in the name of ‘inclusivity,’” the statement read. “Forcing women and girls to compete against men, with greater strength and speed, is the opposite of inclusive. It’s unfair. For generations, women fought for equal opportunity on the playing field and have won 50 years ago with the passage of Title IX, and not that right is at risk again.”
The entire statement is available on the RGA’s website.
