To kick-off 2026, the DNC formally announced ([link removed]) today the When We Count Youth Fellowship ([link removed]) – the largest voter registration effort the committee has ever launched. This cycle, the DNC has made voter registration a top strategic priority nationwide, recognizing that partisan efforts are essential to reversing recent registration trends, winning in upcoming cycles, and training the next generation of Democratic operatives on this fundamental organizing skill.

WHEN WE COUNT FELLOWSHIP: This paid, part-time youth fellowship will train young supporters to register new Democratic voters on the ground, with a particular focus on non-college youth – a group frequently overlooked by traditional youth registration efforts. Considering that nearly 60% of Americans 18-24 are not enrolled in college, this strategic focus fills a gap in the ecosystem and ensures we’re reaching and registering young voters where they live and work.

The first cohorts will launch in spring 2026 across priority congressional districts in Arizona and Nevada. Across districts in these two states, the program will train more than 100 Fellows to register tens of thousands of voters, while building a pipeline of future organizers for the Party.
