Hi John,

Late yesterday, Rep. Pete Stauber introduced a resolution under the Congressional Review Act to overturn the 20-year mining ban . If passed, more than 225,000 acres of the Superior National Forest could be reopened to sulfide-ore copper mining near the Boundary Waters.

This is a critical moment for the Boundary Waters.

This is especially dangerous: The resolution wouldn't only eliminate current protections — it would also prevent future administrations from using the same safeguards on this area.

We don’t have time to waste. Congress is required to vote on this resolution within 60 days.

Here is how you can take action right now:

Today's reckless move isn’t just an attack on the Boundary Waters — it’s an attack on the idea that ordinary people can stand up to powerful interests and win. It's a calculated move that ignores years of study, silences local voices, and reopens the door to pollution in some of the most sensitive and beloved wildlands in the country.

But this decision is also a very important call to action. This irreplaceable landscape and its fragile ecosystem need you to take a stand . Now more than ever, we must unite and defend the Boundary Waters.

Now is the time to go ALL in for the Boundary Waters. We can win 100 times, but we can only lose the Boundary Waters once.

For the Wilderness,
Ingrid Lyons
