Here’s an update from our campaign:

** Stop Insider Trading in Congress
------------------------------------------------------------

Members of Congress should never profit off insider information.

Unfortunately, Representatives like Nancy Pelosi ([link removed]) have generated headlines for making significant returns from stock trading. Enough is enough.

Today, I introduced the Stop Insider Trading Act to ban members of Congress from purchasing stock.

Under my bill, members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children will be banned from purchasing stocks. They also will be required to provide 7-day advanced public notice before selling individual stocks.

If a member violates this law, the penalties will be steep.

For each violation, members will be fined $2,000 or 10% of the value of the stock, whichever is greater. If a member also violates existing insider trading laws, they will face additional criminal penalties.

If you want to day trade, go to Wall Street. If you want to help move this nation forward, come to Congress.

Eliminating Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

Every federal dollar lost to waste, fraud, and abuse is a dollar taken from working families.

In July, Republicans passed into law important reforms to help fight fraud in federal programs. These include:
* Strengthening Medicaid eligibility and requiring states verify eligibility at least twice a year
* Holding states accountable ([link removed]) for erroneous payments for government programs like SNAP
+ States make $13 billion a year in erroneous SNAP payments
* Implementing work requirements ([link removed]) for able-bodied, childless adults of 80 hours a month to receive government benefits

The ongoing fraud scandal in Minnesota proves why these reforms are so important:
* Billions of dollars lost to fraud ([link removed])
* 70+ indictments ([link removed])
* "Failed to act on warning signs" ([link removed])

Honoring Hardworking Volunteers

Last week, the Walworth County Republican Party held its annual Christmas Party and Volunteer Recognition Dinner.

The Walworth GOP recognized 138 volunteers for their work supporting conservative candidates up and down the ballot.

It was great to join by phone and thank all our hardworking volunteers.
