Dear John:

This past week has been a pivotal one for Minnesota and the nation, marked by a firm commitment to the rule of law and fiscal responsibility. In the wake of the recent federal law enforcement operations in Minneapolis, I stand with our law enforcement officers and condemn the dangerous rhetoric surrounding sanctuary policies that puts our officers at risk.

Meanwhile, Governor Tim Walz announced he is dropping out of the race for reelection. While he may be stepping out of the race, this does not let him off the hook for the billions of taxpayer dollars lost to fraud and the lack of accountability that defines his administration.

House Oversight Committee: Fraud & Misuse of Federal Funds in Minnesota

The House Oversight Committee held a hearing to investigate the staggering $9 billion in taxpayer fraud that has been allowed to run rampant through Minnesota’s social service programs. The testimony provided confirmed systemic failures. This isn't just about clerical errors; it's about what prosecutors call "industrial-scale fraud" in programs intended to help the most vulnerable. Members of our State Legislature were called to testify and spoke on the "culture of silence" that has permeated through Democratic leadership. It was appalling to learn that while fraudsters were enriching themselves with luxury cars and lakefront homes, the brave state employees who tried to blow the whistle were met with intimidation rather than support.

Right to the Point Podcast

Last week, I had the opportunity to record a podcast with fellow Minnesotan colleagues, hosted by the Republican Study Committee. The episode title, "The 'Learing' Curve Walz Didn't See Coming," discussed the rampant fraud, waste, and abuse occuring in Minnesota. Federal investigators are estimating over $9 billion in fraud, which amounts to about $1,500 per Minnesotan.

America First Wins in Appropriations Bills

The House, with my support, passed three appropriations bills: Commerce, Justice & Science, Energy & Water Development, and Interior & Environment. Together, these bills lower costs for families, strengthen public safety, restore American energy dominance, and protect our public lands.

Below are a few of the America First wins in these bills:

  • Refocusing federal spending on public safety, infrastructure, and essential services
  • Protecting Second Amendment rights for law-abiding gun owners by shifting the focus towards stopping violent criminals
  • Barring taxpayer dollars from funding abortions
  • Preventing Chinese Communist Party-linked entities from exploiting U.S. supply chains and taxpayer-funded programs.
  • Restoring American energy dominance and ending reliance on foreign adversaries
  • Investing in reliable energy sources to create jobs and lower costs for families
  • Increasing funding for the DEA to stop cartels from flooding our communities with fentanyl
  • Funding programs that protect children from exploitation and trafficking

Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women & Families Act

I introduced the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women & Families Act to protect Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funding that supports vulnerable families across the country. We saw a direct threat to these resources in recent years when the Biden Administration proposed rules to block funding for pregnancy centers. Although that rule was withdrawn in 2025, we must ensure it can never return. This legislation specifically prohibits future restrictions on pregnancy centers, ensuring essential services like parenting classes and medical care. By codifying this access, we empower women with the material support they need to thrive.
