Dear Friend,
The animals imprisoned at Natural Bridge Zoo (NBZ) in Virginia have been deprived of everything that is natural and important to them, subjected to a lifetime of confinement, used as photo props, and more, all for the fleeting amusement of humans.
NBZ used baby tigers in cub-petting schemes, just like what is briefly shown in Netflix's Tiger King—charging upwards of $300 for people to take photos with vulnerable cubs who had been torn away from their nurturing mothers. This roadside zoo also shipped a litter of 1-week-old tiger cubs to Bhagavan "Doc" Antle in South Carolina, another animal exploiter who was featured in the docuseries Tiger King.
Tiger cubs are not the only ones suffering at the hands of NBZ. An elephant named Asha is the only elephant at NBZ and hasn't seen another in years. She was abducted from her home in nature decades ago and lives an unnatural life alternating between two abusive extremes: She's forced to act as a human carnival ride in the blazing summer heat, and in the winter, she's forced to sit alone as a prisoner in a damp, cold, concrete barn.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cited NBZ for dozens of federal animal welfare violations, yet this seedy roadside zoo continues to use animals as profit-making machines. Join us in urging NBZ to do the right thing and send the animals to reputable sanctuaries.
Thank you for all that you do for animals.
Sincerely,
|
