Day 358

It’s Day 358 of President Trump’s second term. No one has lost their Social Security, Medicare, or veterans’ benefits in spite of constant media and leftist lies.

History Is Repeating

After heated debates and in spite of overwhelming opposition from Democrats, laws have been passed by the federal government that states must obey. But there is growing outright defiance of these laws. Democrat governors are threatening to block enforcement of these laws.

There’s already been some violence, and it looks like there could be a lot more. The president and attorney general are furious. They’re warning these governors to either obey the laws of the United States or they will deploy the National Guard.

There’s outrage about that, too. Some claim the attorney general is not fully independent and does whatever the president orders.

You probably think I’m referring to the enforcement of federal immigration laws in Minnesota. Actually, I’m referring to events that happened 62 years ago when the country was moving toward racial integration. But racist Democrat governors and mayors openly defied the federal government.

The then-governor of Alabama, Democrat George Wallace, literally stood in the schoolhouse door and tried to block Black children from going to school. The then-governor of Arkansas, Democrat Orval Faubus, deployed National Guard troops to prevent Black children from entering Little Rock schools.

Everybody knew the “resistance” by Wallace and Faubus could not be tolerated. Once a federal law is passed and upheld by the Supreme Court, you must obey the law. If you don’t obey the law, then we’re back to the Civil War, which was fought over the idea that states could ignore the federal government.

Here we are in 2026, and history is repeating itself. Left-wing Democrat governors and mayors are defying federal law, the Supreme Court, and our constitutional order by claiming they can ignore federal immigration laws. They can’t.

It doesn’t matter what side of the immigration debate you’re on. The bottom line is that states cannot defy federal immigration laws. Democrat politicians and left-wing activists who actively oppose federal immigration enforcement are insurrectionists.

By the way, if each state can do what it wants regardless of what Congress passes and what the Supreme Court decides, then I will lead the effort for conservative states to open school days with prayer, to recognize marriage as one man and one woman, and to fully cooperate with federal immigration officials.

And the next time a Democrat is in the White House, Texas can shut its border and do whatever they have to do to stop illegal aliens from pouring in.

Left-wing Violence Is Repeating

The protests in Minnesota against federal immigration enforcement grew larger over the weekend. Smaller demonstrations spread across the country. More disturbing is the nonstop, reckless rhetoric by leading Democrats. They are putting the lives of law enforcement officers in danger. (See next item.)

Two different hotels were attacked this weekend in Minneapolis because left-wing radicals thought federal immigration police were staying at those hotels. They caused thousands of dollars in property damage. What exactly did the mob intend to do to the immigration police officers inside the hotels?

Many leftists are saying, “We have the right to protest.” Storming hotels, destroying property, and obstructing federal law enforcement operations are not constitutionally protected protests. There is no “right” to use your vehicle to block law enforcement agents attempting to do their job.

I couldn’t help but notice that the big demonstrations each day in Minneapolis begin in a city park. It’s the same park where the misnamed Black Lives Matter movement erupted in the summer of 2020. I say misnamed because it was really an anti-law enforcement movement.

These extremists ended up spreading riots across the country. Minneapolis alone suffered $500 million in property damage. Parts of the city burned and, in many cases, were never rebuilt.

The 2020 riots also had a public policy demand to defund the police. Minneapolis and other Democrat-run cities slashed their police budgets. Police departments across the country were decimated. Some never recovered their previous strength.

One of the goals of this current unrest is to stop men and women from applying to work as federal immigration police officers. They want those brave Americans to say to themselves, “I can’t do this. I can’t risk being attacked, pulled into court, and prosecuted, even though I want criminal illegal aliens out of the country.”

Kamala Harris won 88% of the vote in the city of Minneapolis in 2024. This is a far-left city. Jacob Frey, the current crazy left-wing mayor, was challenged last year by a socialist Somali candidate even further left than Frey is.

What you’re seeing in these demonstrations is the political Left attempting to stop the enforcement of legitimately passed laws. And Big Media is giving the left-wing mob massive air support.

I remember when one Christian county clerk in Kentucky objected to the Supreme Court’s decision redefining marriage and announced that she would not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The full weight of the federal government crushed that woman. There wasn’t an editorial writer in the country who defended her.

Another Shutdown?

Several spending bills must pass Congress before the end of the month to avoid another government shutdown. One of those spending bills includes funding for the Department of Homeland Security and our federal immigration police.

But there are growing calls among so-called “progressives” and other leading Democrats to defund federal immigration police.

If the Left wants to have a national debate about defunding law enforcement heading into the midterm elections, bring it on. I believe we will win that debate.

A Tale Of Two Chiefs

Portland Police Chief Bob Day held a press conference Friday afternoon to provide updates on the shooting incident involving a Border Patrol officer that occurred the day before. The situation was identical to what happened in Minneapolis—a vehicle was weaponized against the Border Patrol officer, and he opened fire.

But Day choked up and had to wipe away tears when he acknowledged that the Border Patrol officer shot two members of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua in self-defense. He then launched into a groveling apology to the “Latino community,” reassuring them that he wasn’t supporting the Border Patrol officer’s actions in any way.

Why is this police chief shedding tears over gang members? I seriously doubt Portland’s Latino community is shedding tears over these thugs. Americans of all races want more policing and safe streets, not DEI-induced virtue signaling.

Contrast Chief Day’s “white guilt” with what Larry Snelling, the police chief of Chicago, said. When controversy erupted about federal immigration enforcement in Chicago, Chief Snelling, who is Black, said:

“Let me make this clear! Federal agents . . . agents of law enforcement. If you box them in with vehicles, it is reasonable for them to believe that they are being ambushed. . . And it’s reasonable for them to use force based on those conditions.

“Do not box in any law enforcement officer. You are breaking the law when you do that. And you are putting yourself in danger. . . When you plow into a vehicle that contains law enforcement agents, you’re using deadly force. And they can use deadly force in response to stop you!

“We need to be clear about these laws. We cannot become a society where we just decide to take everything in our own hands and start to commit crimes against law enforcement. It is a crime. You may not like what they’re doing. . . But that does not mean that you get to commit a crime, especially one that could lead to deadly force.”

About That Drought

For the last two decades, the climate change juggernaut has pointed to the brutal drought in California as proof positive of global warming. When the Palisades fires broke out, many Democrats blamed climate change.

I mention this because a little item caught my attention this weekend. For the first time in 25 years, not one area of California is in a drought.

How is that possible? Climate change is supposed to be unstoppable without draconian restrictions on fossil fuels. I guess someone forgot to tell the clouds in the heavens!

Mississippi Burning

The largest synagogue in Mississippi was heavily damaged by an arson attack over the weekend. A suspect is in custody and has reportedly confessed. Beth Israel President Zach Shemper told reporters, “We have already had outreach from other houses of worship in the Jackson area and greatly appreciate their support in this very difficult time.”

In a recent interview, President Trump was asked about antisemitic elements, like Nick Fuentes, in the conservative movement. Unfortunately, my old friend, Tucker Carlson, seems to go down that road, too.

Trump denounced antisemitism and antisemites, saying, “We don’t need them. . .  We don’t like them.”

He reminded the reporter that his daughter is Jewish, his son-in-law is Jewish, and three grandchildren are Jewish. The president said, “I’m very proud of them. Very proud of that whole family. I am the least antisemitic person probably there is anywhere in the world.”

Marketing Minnesota

If you need a laugh, watch this “ad” promoting Tim Walz’s Minnesota. It will make your day! Of course, it is satire, but it is loaded with truth.
