Folks, I want to be up front with you about something important.
Beginning midnight tonight (when the date turns to January 13th), through midnight on January 19, my campaign will be required to completely stop fundraising while the Alabama legislature is in session. That’s not a strategic choice. It’s Alabama state law.
No emails.
No texts.
No fundraising of any kind.
Not even ActBlue.
That’s right, during that time, our ActBlue won’t work. Contributions won’t be processed. On January 20, it will be turned back on. It’s critical that we put ourselves in a strong position before this freeze starts.
Running a competitive, statewide campaign in Alabama takes real resources, especially when we’re relying on grassroots support. This fundraising blackout will be hard, and it comes at a moment when the stakes for our state could not be higher.
I’m not asking for money because I want to, but because I have to.
I’m running against someone who thinks that Alabama is a stadium and that our lives are a game. But this is deadly serious.
When folks can’t find good jobs in our state, it’s not a game.
When folks have to pick between paying for health care and paying for rent, it’s not a game.
When housing prices are skyrocketing, it’s not a game.
Because the stakes are so high, because we desperately need to change Montgomery, and because the people of Alabama can’t wait for leadership that actually cares, I’m asking if you’ll make a donation of any amount before our deadline in just a few hours. [ [link removed] ]
Thank you,
Doug
