Email your reps now. No images? Click here John, As environmental advocates, we know that the impacts of climate change are only getting worse. Wildfires, flooding, and extreme weather affect all Washingtonians. We cannot afford to pause climate action. The Climate Commitment Act (CCA), our landmark climate law, makes polluters pay, funds critical clean energy projects, and aids communities most affected by climate change. In 2024, you and millions like you stood up to defend the CCA at the ballot box. Today, this groundbreaking law needs your help once again. Protecting Climate and Environmental Health Funding, an Environmental Priorities Coalition priority. In late December, Governor Ferguson proposed using $569 million of CCA funds to balance budget shortfalls. This is the largest diversion of a dedicated environmental funding source we’ve ever seen. If adopted, the result will be more pollution and fewer dollars to help people and to offset high energy costs. The Governor’s budget is being heard this week, and state leaders need to hear from you. Urge your legislators to use CCA dollars for their intended purposes and to reject the Governor’s proposed budget diversions. Today is the first day of the 2026 Washington Legislative Session. During this 60-day session, it will take all of us to advocate to keep the state on track to fight climate change. Thank you for taking action, Darcy Nonemacher (she/her) |
