This week, Congress passed the Great American Outdoors Act with overwhelming bipartisan support. The President is expected to sign the measure into law.

Among other things, the bill will repair deteriorating infrastructure in our national parks, permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and support over 100,000 jobs -- many of them in our district. Yosemite National Park, a crown jewel of our country located right here in CA-04, has $645 million in backlogged maintenance expenses -- and this bill would help address that, while supporting our region’s $15 billion outdoor tourism economy.

And Tom McClintock voted against it.

We all knew Tom was unfit to represent this district, but this is a new low, even for him.

John, we’ve long known that Tom McClintock doesn’t care about our district, and his vote is even more direct evidence. Can you pitch in $5 or whatever makes sense to you so we can elect Brynne Kennedy to make our district’s best interests a priority?

This investment in our national parks has major ramifications for our district. With Yosemite so close by, it means new jobs in areas where they previously didn’t exist. It means more tourism, thanks to better maintained parks and new areas of access to our public lands. It means really, really good news for our district -- at a time when good news is hard to come by.

With tourism rates already lowered because of the ongoing pandemic, we need to do all that we can to protect this industry so vital to our district. This bill has major long-term implications for us, for years to come. But Tom doesn’t live in our district, so why would he care?

Tom McClintock is a failed leader, plain and simple. He puts fringe partisanship before our community, and he must be replaced. Chip in $5 to send Brynne Kennedy to fight for our district and our nation’s crown jewels.
