Friend,

As states kick off their 2026 legislative sessions, we need to mobilize to push back against the Trump administration’s cruel and deadly mass deportation regime. The horrific killing of Renee Nicole Good, an unarmed mother shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, underscores how high and urgent the stakes are.

Secret police are a signature of authoritarian regimes. Under the Trump administration, it’s a part of a broader strategy to expand and consolidate power under the guise of immigration enforcement.

States can serve as a firewall against federal overreach and as a force for justice. And our legislators need to hear from you. Send them a message now >>>

When federal agents hide their identities, throw people into unmarked vans, and refuse to show their badges, that’s not law enforcement, it’s state violence. It also makes it easier for impostors to impersonate them. In 2025, there were at least two dozen cases of people posing as ICE agents to commit crimes.

The time to act is now. State legislators have the power to curb Trump’s secret police tactics and protect our communities – we’ve identified a list of steps they can take to fight back:

  • Prohibit any law enforcement agents in your state from obscuring their identities

  • Limit collaboration with federal immigration enforcement that violates civil rights

  • Establish “safe community places,” in state, city, or county facilities, where access to non-public areas requires a judicial warrant

  • Create a hotline and online portal for the public to report harms from federal deployments or immigration enforcement

Tell your state legislators to defend our neighborhoods from Trump’s secret police >>>
