This is a huge step forward that I’m deeply proud of:
After months of pressure, the House passed an extension on the ACA tax credits that Republicans let expire at the end of December.
These credits are essential in keeping healthcare premiums affordable for millions of Illinoisans. Now, it heads to the Senate -- and I urge them to pass it immediately and give Americans the relief they deserve.
Democrats didn’t back down from this fight -- and we won. This was only made possible by our united front, holding the line during the government shutdown, and from folks across IL-13 and beyond who urged their representatives to act.
No one should be forced to choose between putting food on the table and paying for healthcare coverage. This should have never been a partisan game with peoples’ lives.
This passage in the House is a sign of the results Democrats can deliver if we take the majority in November.
