We rolled out a very exciting endorsement announcement this week: we’ve broken all previous endorsement records! We’ve now endorsed 282 LGBTQ candidates, the most in our 29-year history.

Katie Dixon, running for the Kansas House of Representatives, also announced two more exciting endorsements from Kansas Young Democrats and EMILY’s List!

Another new endorsee Barb Wood, who’s running for the Maine state House, celebrated her victory in the Maine primaries. Take a look!

QUEERING CONGRESS

A big endorsement for Georgette Gómez: Latino Victory is standing with her campaign for California’s 53rd Congressional District.

VICTORY IN NEW YORK

After almost a month, election results are somewhat finalized in New York! And it looks like Spotlight candidate Jabari Brisport has WON his race for the New York state Senate! Jabari will make history as the first openly LGBTQ person of color elected to the state legislature.

Mondaire Jones, the winner of New York’s 17th Congressional district, congratulated Ritchie Torres on his victory in New York’s 15th Congressional District. They will both make history as the first two Black openly LGBTQ members of Congress.

Ritchie will also make history as the first openly LGBTQ Afro-Latinx member of Congress but cannot join both the Black and Hispanic Caucuses. As Ritchie says in this op-ed for The Washington Post, that must change.

So what’s next in New York? A lot! In 2021, a new wave of LGBTQ candidates are running for city council. Read about their campaigns here.
